My Sweet Friend – H A
Leuschel
About the
Book
A stand-alone novella from the author of
Manipulated Lives
A perfect friend … or a perfect impostor?
Alexa is an energetic and charismatic professional and the new member of a Parisian PR company where she quickly befriends her colleagues Rosie and Jack. She brings a much-needed breath of fresh air into the office and ambitiously throws herself into her new job and friendships.
But is Alexa all she claims to be?
As her life intertwines with Rosie and Jack’s, they must all decide what separates truth from fiction. Will the stories that unfold unite or divide them? Can first impressions ever be trusted?
In this original novella, H.A. Leuschel evokes the powerful hold of appearances and what a person is prepared to do to keep up the facade. If you like thought-provoking and compelling reads with intriguing characters, My Sweet Friend is for you.
My Review
This
is a novella, which despite being just under a 100 pages long, was a very
enjoyable read and one I read in a day.
We
are told over alternating chapters about the lives of two women, Rosie and
Alexa. The tale is about manipulation
and how this affects both the person whose being manipulated and the manipulator.
We
see how Alexa on joining a new firm implants herself in the lives of Rosie and
her colleague Jack, how she inserts herself in their personal space and
thoughts.
Due
to the setting of this book being predominantly in an office, I found myself
thinking back to places I have worked and can picture various situations which
rang true.
The
author tackles the subject of manipulation very well, and anyone reading this
will be able to agree with most if not all of this story.
My
only gripe is that this story is way too short and is one that I had wished was
a lot longer.
