The Note – Andrew Barrett
Today I am pleased to be able to
participate in the blog tour for The Note. My thanks go to Sarah Hardy at
Bloodhound Books for my spot on the tour.
About
the Book
Have you ever had that feeling of being watched but when you turn around
no one’s there?
I have.
It was raining, and I was working a murder scene around midnight when
that prickle ran up my spine. If I’d listened to that feeling, if I’d thought
back to my past, maybe I could have prevented the terror that was to come.
Back at the office, I found a death threat on my desk.
I had no idea who sent it or why they wanted to kill me.
But I was about to find out.
I’m Eddie Collins, a CSI and this is my story.
Review
The Note is a short story but still
features Eddie Collins, the formidable CSI with a passion for forensics. We are treated in this book to the personal
side of Eddie and what it feels like to have that feeling like somebody is
watching you, but you turn around and no one is there. That feeling that no matter where you go there’s
a pair of eyes watching you and you are constantly checking over your shoulder!
The description above is all I can say
about the book as 1) it’s a short story and 2) to say anymore would spoil the
enjoyable read, and I hate reviews with spoilers in then.
I read this book in a day and probably
took me just over an hour to read on my commute to and from work.
I’m a big fan of CSI type programmes
and therefore was nice to read how Eddie Collins works and for a book to be centred
around him personally.
I’m an avid book reader and buyer and
am terrible for buying books and then leaving in my TBR list, like I have done
with this one, which has been there since June 2017 and due to being re-released
by the lovely people at Bloodhound Books with a snazzy new cover gave me the
perfect opportunity to read this and find out what I have been missing.
Due to my pure unadulterated shame in
buying books and then leaving in my TBR list (which I am sure my fellow book
bloggers and book worms do!), I have a few more Eddie Collins books to read and
will shortly be moving these up my TBR list and am looking to the months of July
(well end of July at least) and August where I will be reading books for my own
pleasure and off my enormous TBR list and lets hope that Eddie Collins appears
in that list. Keep an eye on my blog to
see what I end up reading.
About
the Author
Andrew Barrett has enjoyed variety in his
professional life, from engine-builder to farmer, from Oilfield Service
Technician in Kuwait, to his current role of Senior CSI in Yorkshire.
He’s been a CSI since 1996, and has
worked on all scene types from terrorism to murder, suicide to rape, drugs
manufacture to bomb scenes. One way or another, Andrew’s life revolves around
crime.
In 1997 he finished his first crime
thriller, A Long Time Dead, and it’s still a readers’ favourite
today, some 200,000 copies later, topping the Amazon charts several times. Two
more books featuring SOCO Roger Conniston completed the trilogy.
Today, Andrew is still producing
high-quality, authentic crime thrillers with a forensic flavour that attract
attention from readers worldwide. He’s also attracted attention from the
Yorkshire media, having been featured in the Yorkshire Post, and
twice interviewed on BBC Radio Leeds.
He’s best known for his lead
character, CSI Eddie Collins, and the acerbic way in which he roots out
criminals and administers justice. Eddie’s series is four books and two short
stories in length, and there’s still more to come.
Andrew is a proud Yorkshireman and
sets all of his novels there, using his home city of Leeds as another major,
and complementary, character in each of the stories.
