Dark Fragments

Product Details

After reading all Rob's other books and loving the Carl Logan series, I was initially a bit sceptical about reading this book.  It is a standalone book and a different style from what I have been used to previously by this author.  However, this was not a disappointment, in fact I loved loved loved it.

The story centres around Ben, a man with a lot on his mind.  First of all the unsolved murder of his first wife.  We learn that Ben has moved on, is now re-married and has two young children, one from his previous marriage and one from his current marriage.  However all is not as it seems, he is in debt a very substantial amount of debt.

I found the book a lot darker than Rob's previous books, but had me hooked from the very first pages.  It is a book were for me the main character has a lot to deal with, his wife's unsolved murder, the state of his current marriage not to mention the substantial debt he is in. The story alternates between present day where Ben is talking to someone (however we are unsure who this is and are left debating whether it’s a counsellor; the police or some other medical profession).

I felt once I completed this book that I had been on a roller coaster of a ride and writing this review has taken me a few days, not because I didn’t know what to write,  but more that I didn’t want to give anything away.

Rob is fast becoming one of my favourite authors and every time I hear that he is working on a new book, I am willing him to write and publisher faster so I can get my fix.  There are only limited authors that have ever had me like that and they were James Patterson, Lee Child and Jeffery Deaver, however in my opinion Rob is fast overtaking them.  Can’t wait to see what is next in store for this author.
