Hunt For The Enemy – Rob Sinclair

The book starts off as a flashback to a time in Morocco, with Logan instructed to do a job by Mackie.  A job he is not 100% sure about.  We are then transported to the present time and to Logan arriving on Granger’s doorstep.  That can only mean one thing they are not safe.

Throughout this book, we are shown insights into Logan’s career.  What made Logan the man he is today.  We are also transported to the present situation and the problems that have occurred.  Why they are in danger.  Why they must run and why they are being hunted!    They need to keep the JIA (Joint Intelligence Agency) off their case, stay ahead of the game and do this all whilst trying to solve the incident that brought them together. 

This is transferred in the author’s unique way through the interweaving chapters.

This book to me was fast paced, had me wanting to learn more about Logan and what made him tick!  How his career was started and the obstacles that were put in his path along the way.  I loved the way we were taken back to his early days and given the opportunity to understand why he is like he is, the people that have hurt him, the people who love him and most importantly the way in which he handles the situations he finds himself in.   

I was drawn into the story from page one and didn’t want my commute to end and when it did end, I wanted it to be home time again so I could get on public transport and open my kindle to read some more.

This is the final part in the “Hunt” trilogy, but a part of me hopes that this is not the end of us hearing about Logan.

Thanks to the authors publishers and Netgalley for allowing me to read this book and also thanks to Rob Sinclair for writing such another great book.  I for one can’t wait to see what is next in store from this author.

Ella is a nurse, leading a busy working life in a hospital’s trauma department.  Every day is hectic and she rarely gets chance to relax.  In the town where Ella lives, strange things begin to happen to young women who work in the theatre – “the Surrey Punisher” is on the loose.

The story is told in snappy chapters, each one headed with a name but all set around Ella.  The reader is drawn in with each page turned and left to draw their own conclusions.  It is a fast paced psychological thriller that had me wishing my commute to and from work was longer than it was!

The author has the knack of making the reader think the story is going one way, for you to think you know what is happening only to have the rug pulled from under you with yet another twist thrown in.

This is a new book in a series all about Isabella.

Group 15 is an elite task force who are a bit of a secret group, and after a shaky start and a turbulent meeting which resulted in them being disbanded, the group leave their location and begin to head home.  Just as they are leaving a series of explosions occur in London, the first one being on the London Underground and “the hunt is on”.

This is a job for a special agent called “Pope” and he needs assistance.  He needs “The Angel”.

The book starts off in London, travels through other parts of the UK and then Morocco and Switzerland.  It is fast paced, gripping and leave the reader wanting to read just that one more page / chapter.

This story picks up a few months after the last one finishes.  Jessica is back at work trying to come to terms with what has happened and also head up an investigation into a series of burglaries that have taken placed in middle class areas.

Jessica deals with obstacles thrown at her every way she turns. 

Jessica is still working with her new partner Archie, as things still aren’t great with her older partner Dave (and the spark that was evident in the past between them is missing!).   Her colleague and friend Izzy is still around when Jessica needs someone.

I found myself transported back to the end of Book 9 and all those feelings I experienced when I had finished that book came flooding back.  I was eager to see where this book was going, eager to see how Jessica copes with the aftermath of that incident whilst continuing to investigate the series of break-ins and try to get back to normality.

Yet again Kerry gave me that “wow” factor and had me re-reading the last few pages to make sure I hadn’t missed anything, as I seriously wasn’t expecting that ending again.

Circle – The Diary of Stella Moore is the follow up to Chance and picks up the story approximately 7 years later.  For those that have read the first book this book continues with Cassie, who is living with Laura at presently but still experiencing those “visions”.   Cassie is now in her teens and has a new life with Laura.  They are trying to put the past behind them, trying their best to move on and start again.

Just as you get to understand some of what has happened in the past (for those that haven’t read Chance), you are then introduced to diary entries from a girl called Stella Moore. 

Who is Stella Moore? 

What is the connection between the diary entries and the story?

What is happening to Stella Moore?  

Detective Sargent Frank  Simmons who was in the last book, plays a major part in this one and enlists Cassie’s help with a case he is working on privately after being suspended from the police force.  The case is trying to figure out why Annie Mendoza mysteriously disappeared.

We are then as the book progresses introduced into the world of sado masochism, the horrible   world of domestic abuse, the way things are viewed by people on the internet who seem to thrive on seeing pictures of abuse.  This is however done in such a way that you are left wanting to read just one more page to see if you can suss out what is happening or what will happen. 

Circle is a darker more mysterious book than Chance was.  Peter has put a lot of thought and research into this book and I have to say that his writing skills and knowledge of the subject through research alone is impeccable and one he should be proud of.    

I would personally recommend that you read Chance before reading Circle as it will give you a better insight into the world of Cassie Janus and help you understand the hidden gift that she has that can help people.
