Games People Play

Games People Play - Charlie Cameron #1

First of all my thanks go to Bloodhound Books and the author Owen Mullen for allowing me to read and review a copy of this book. My views are my own.

This book is a brand new series featuring a PI called Charlie Cameron. Charlie has been hired to find out who has taken a baby from a beach during a family day out. Charlie doesn't normally take abduction cases and we are given a glimpse as to why that is as the book progresses along with details of his background and how this is relevant pieced together slowly as the story progress.

Charlie's office is in a bar called New York Blue (NYB), a pub set in Glasgow and all the staff and regulars in there also hold secrets of their own. We are treated to the trials and tribulation of the people frequenting the pub discussing their problems over a pint!

I found this book very slow at the beginning and wondered where the story was going, but once I got just over a quarter of the way through the pace picked up for me. Once I understood the scene and discovered which characters were which and how they were involved I found this book enjoyable.

I look forward to reading more by Owen Mullen and his second book in the series Old Friends and New Enemies is due for release later on this month (21.02.17).
